After the early January 2011 World Cup Freestyle skiing stage at Alpe d'Huez, racers thrilled an enthusiastic public at Les Contamines in France on Sunday 16 January 2011, with their extraordinary spectacular.

With its unrivalled expertise in the organisation of Skicross World Cups, the entire ski resort of Les Contamines pulled out all the stops to provide skiers with the best possible conditions to excel in their discipline. This French stage of the World Cup circuit at Les Contamines, a must in the season's calendar, provided a showcase for Haute–Savoie know–how in terms of hospitality and organisation of major international competitions. " Sunday's race was fantastic!" said French racer OphÉlie David, Champion supporter of Annecy 2018, winner of the stage, 2007 World Champion, seven times winner of the Crystal Globe in her discipline, as well as Winter X–Games winner in Skicross four years running. " The course was challenging and it was a real nail–biter right until the end; all the ingredients were there for a great race. The racers always look forward to the stage at Les Contamines, because we know the racing conditions will be excellent and an enthusiastic public will be there to cheer us on. " The popularity of Skicross, an Olympic discipline since the Vancouver Games in 2010, is constantly growing, with an ever increasing number of enthusiasts taking up the sport. This snow sport, a combination of technical skills and fighting spirit, has found its ideal home on the Annecy 2018 playing field, where it receives a warm welcome every year, in an outstanding natural setting, between the everlasting snow of Mont Blanc and Lake Annecy, Europe's purest lake.
