All 224 elected officials of South Korea's Gangwon Province gathered at the end of September 2010 in Chuncheon, the provincial capital, and express their full support for the PyeongChang bid to host the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Participants of the 9th annual 'Harmony Meeting', a sporting event which brings together people of various political backgrounds, were joined by politicians from the National Assembly, Provincial Assembly and Municipal Council in Gangwon Province in order to generate good will between all parties and express their support for the PyeongChang 2018 bid. This was the first time the elected officials of Gangwon had met since the recent election in June 2010. In addition, Gangwon Province Governor Kwang–Jae Lee also hosted a meeting with the area's 18 Mayors and County Governors to discuss regional issues. They agreed that hosting a 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in PyeongChang would enhance the province's growth and made clear their enthusiasm for the bid campaign and their willingness to support preparations for the IOC Evaluation Committee visit scheduled for February 2011. The meetings follow the opinion polls that show over 91% of the nation's population and 93% of Gangwon Province support PyeongChang. Yang Ho Cho, chairman and CEO of the PyeongChang 2018 Bid Committee, said: " On behalf of PyeongChang 2018, I am delighted to hear the repeated and strengthened encouragement from the different levels of government as well as the passionate support that the Korean people have for our bid. As our campaign moves towards a new phase, we promise to work harder than ever in the coming months as we take our proposals to the wider Olympic Movement. ","43
