ICON-Prolab wins praise

Sport Business News

Icon's joint venture operation in the UAE, ICON–Prolab, has won accolades from FINA, the world's top swimming organisation, for its outstanding branding, signage and way–finding at the recent 10th FINA World Swimming Championship in Dubai.

Held for the first time ever in the Middle East, the championship took place at the purpose–built Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex, a 15, 000 seat state–of–the–art aquatics venue and attracted 30, 000+ spectators, 1, 000+ swimmers and 250+ media from 140 countries. Executive director of the Championships, Cornel Marculescu, said: We were delighted, not only with ICON–Prolabs innovative design but also with the quality of work and flexibility in preparing the signage for this event. The facility is one of the largest and most technologically–advanced in the world, boasting a 50m competition pool, a 25m dive pool, and a 50m warm–up pool, with a horseshoe–shaped seating bowl in the main arena. With very limited time available to complete the project, the ICON–Prolab team worked closely with the Local Organising Committee to fast–track the process and meet the tight deadlines. Jayne Reader, ICON–Prolabs director in the UAE, commented: Designing and installing signage in such a prestigious venue requires a high level of expertise and a good understanding of the needs of the different stake holders. The ICON and Prolab teams worked tremendously well together to deliver on our promise to our client, FINA, and we look forward to working in future with the body and with the sports complexs management to ensure that future events maintain the highest levels of branding, signage and wayfinding.
