500 Days Until Sochi!

On 25 September 2012, Russia approached its latest Olympic milestone, with just 500 days to go before the first Olympic Winter Games in the history of Russia starts. The Sochi 2014 Organising Committee prepared a large-scale celebration programme for the important day that was widely supported across the country, from East to West. Sports and music events took place in 17 cities across Russia. The culmination of the celebration was a national flashmob, the main participants of which were Sochi 2014 volunteers from the 26 volunteer centres, representing 14 of the country's regions. At the squares, stadiums and sports complexes of their cities, more than 12,000 volunteers participated in the construction of giant puzzles in the form of Olympic pictograms, having collected a total of all 22 stylised images of Olympic sports.

Meanwhile, Sochi 2014 has signed agreements with Coca-Cola and Ingosstrakh, for them to become Presenting Partners of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay.

The Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay, which will be presented by Coca-Cola and Ingosstrakh, will begin on 7 October 2013 and is expected to be the longest national Olympic Torch Relay in the history of the Winter Games.

Coca-Cola, the longest continuous partner of the Olympic Games, supported the staging of the Olympic Torch Relay for the first time in 1992. The Olympic Winter Games in Sochi are the ninth Olympics at which the soft drinks company will act as a Presenting Partner of the Relay. Coca-Cola will create a celebratory atmosphere over the course of the entire route of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay, organising entertainment, sports and music events.

Sochi 2014 Partner, Ingosstrakh, also has Olympic experience: it was the main insurer of the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. Now, Ingosstrakh will provide the organisers and participants of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay with the opportunity to insure vehicles and freight, as well as personal health and life. In addition, Ingosstrakh will stage entertainment events in cities, in which millions of Russians will be able to take part.

In other Sochi 2014 sponsorship news, Jet Set Sports has been awarded the status of official supplier in the hospitality category. Under the agreement, Jet Set Sports will become the official supplier of Sochi 2014 hospitality services and the exclusive distributor of hospitality packages in Russia. The hospitality packages provided by Jet Set Sports will include hotel accommodation, meals, meeting and greeting guests and arranging transfers, along with distributing tickets.

Meanwhile, CROS, one of Russia’s largest PR agencies, has been named the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games supplier in the public relations services category, while the Klinsk Institute for Occupational Safety and Health will perform the same role in the occupational safety category. Finally, German company Ottobock has agreed a deal to become the official supplier of technical service for athletes competing at the Sochi 2014 Paralympics.
