SportAccord Convention has announced that its 2012 City Forum will explore how sporting events can help drive economic and social development within a city, while promoting tourism and a healthy lifestyle.

The theme of " Taking It to the Streets – City Activation" will share the City Forum agenda with a session entitled " Who Pays for What? " discussing the financing of events. The Forum will take place during the 10TH anniversary SportAccord Convention in Quebec City from May 20–25. Rotterdam Topsport CEO Hans den Oudendammer, University of Colorado Denver chancellor Don Elliman and Gerrit Middag, commercial and events director of the International Cycling Union, will be among the speakers at the City Forum. The Forum will feature a session on the FIFA Women's World Cup featuring representatives from the 2011 event in Germany and the next edition coming up in Canada in 2015. Other experts taking part in the Forum will include Ron Bidulka, managing director of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and Jennah Wootten, major events manager of Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development Ltd. The City Forum will be moderated by BBC World TV presenter David Eades and Don Schumacher, president of Don Schumacher & Associates, Inc. and executive director of the National Association of Sports Commissions.
