The 2012 edition of SportAccord Convention received unprecedented live television news coverage around the world as international media focused on big stories coming out of the summit gathering of sport in Quábec City from May 20–25.

NHK (Japan), Al Jazeera (Qatar) and Telemadrid (Spain) were among the broadcasters reporting live on the International Olympic Committees announcement of the shortlist of candidate cities for the 2020 Olympic Summer Games during the Convention. Canadian broadcasters Radio Canada and RDS also carried live news from the QuÉbec City Convention Centre. SportAccord Convention in QuÉbec City was also the setting chosen by the IOC and the United States Olympic Committee for making their long–anticipated announcement of a revenue–sharing agreement, highlighting the events importance as a platform for breaking news. The tenth anniversary edition of SportAccord Convention attracted more than 1, 800 delegates representing over 860 organisations from around the world. Held in a different city every year, SportAccord Convention is a unique opportunity for international sporting leaders to engage with business, featuring a dynamic exhibition as well as the annual general meetings of governing bodies of world sport. Organising committees at the 2012 event included the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Pan American Games, University Games, World Games, Military Games, Masters Games and Special Olympics.
