'Engaging fans through community and connected venues' at Sport and Technology: The Conference 2009

Imagine a face–to–face chat with David Beckham hours before an England international football game or getting the inside gossip from Tom Brady before the New England Patriots take to the field in an NFL game. Imagination is now being turned into reality thanks to Cisco TelePresence technology. By standing in front of high–definition displays in a local arena concourse, fans are able to make eye contact with their sports heroes. It is the latest in video conferencing from Cisco, enabling fans to hear league gossip and line–up changes, news on injuries and inside information on new players. Neville Wheeler, Director, CMSG Europe at Cisco Media Solutions Group will outline Cisco's suite of services that aim to transform fan experiences at live events, drive new revenues and streamline venue operations in his Afternoon Opening Address at Sport and Technology: The Conference 2009, in association with BT Media and Broadcast, on 4 June at BT Centre in London. Wheeler will also show how Cisco solutions are helping to drive new experiences for online fans and audiences, which in term can help sports properties to better understand their fan audiences and also help to generate new revenue opportunities.
