Glasgow 2014 has appointed a new director of technology to deliver the Technology Strategy for the Organising Committee, including the delivery of the IT systems behind the timekeeping, scoring, and results for the Games.

Brian Nourse brings with him 15 years of experience in the IT and major sporting events industry, and has been heavily involved in the Commonwealth Games movement as a consultant for Delhi 2010 and Glasgow 2014. He was also the group technology manager for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. As director of technology, Nourse will be charged with directing the sourcing, management and delivery of information systems and telecommunications for the Organising Committee Headquarters, all competition venues and the Athletes' Village. He will also be responsible for the Games technology infrastructure that will ensure the timely delivery of accurate information to all client groups. In terms of infrastructure for the Games, as technology director Nourse will be managing the technology at venues and the Athlete's Village, including scoping press operations and broadcast requirements. Glasgow 2014 chief executive John Scott said: "This role is a very important one for the Organising Committee as the director of technology will be charged with taking forward and delivering Glasgow 2014's Technology Strategy over the next four years. "Brian will be an excellent addition to our team, bringing with him years of experience from the major sporting events industry where he has travelled the world implementing and advising on IT systems for different Commonwealth Games, and is an expert in his field. We are delighted to have him on board.
