Another new Glasgow 2014 hire

Glasgow 2014 has appointed Liz Mendl as the new head of medical services for the Commonwealth Games. Bringing 25 years of Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games experience to the Organising Committee, she will oversee the scoping, planning and delivery of all medical services during Glasgow 2014, including the management of the anti–doping programme.

Mendl, originally from Edinburgh, will be responsible for the health and wellbeing of 6, 500 athletes and officials who will be at Glasgow 2014, as well as catering for the medical needs of the hundreds of thousands of spectators and volunteers who will attend the Games. Mendl joins Glasgow 2014 from the sportscotland Institute of Sport, where she was high performance manager, responsible for sport–specific programmes including Paralympic and winter sports.
