Delegates to the 6th International Sports Event Management Conference have delivered overwhelmingly positive feedback on an event which brought some of the most influential people in sport to the podium. MEI was a media partner of the event and MEI chief executive Dennis Mills chaired a panel discussion.

With the leaders of the Organising Committees for the next two Olympic Games, IAAF Vice President Lord Coe and Richard Worth, head of the Americas Cup Authority leading an army of world class contributors, ISEM delivered on its promise to be the Ultimate Meeting of Sports Event Professionals. HIGHLIGHTS€ÂȘLondon 2012 CEO, Paul Deighton, making his fourth presentation to an ISEM audience highlighted the importance of building the right team to get the job done. Dmitry Chernyshenko, president of the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee, explained how the Winter Olympic Games has not only become the biggest construction project in the world but is transforming Russia through its focus on opportunity, accessibility and the environment. Lord Coe told delegates how people power had helped Daegu win the right to host the 2011 IAAF World Championships when 800, 000 citizens signed a petition for an event which has given their city a fresh identity and belief. Richard Worth of the Americas Cup Authority spoke of the challenges involved in making the worlds oldest international trophy a draw for live and TV viewers alike. NETWORKING€ÂȘOutside the conference sessions ISEM delivered excellent networking opportunities around a buzzing exhibition hall while many participants took the opportunity to organise side–meetings with speakers, many of whom are responsible for multi billion dollar budgets of some of the biggest sports events in the world. Event sponsors UKTI played a major role in organising structured networking sessions which proved hu gely valuable for UK firms.
