On 24 November, Rugby Expo will open its doors and welcome hundreds of grass roots rugby clubs to be part of the most anticipated rugby conference and exhibition event of 2011. To support the attendees from the clubs, the second day of the event will shift its focus to deliver plenary and workshop sessions aimed at the grass roots clubs and development of the game.

Rugby Expo 2011 is actively supported by the IRB, the RFU, SRU, Premiership Rugby, RaboDirect PRO12, the RFL and Super League and a number of senior staff members from the unions, associations and leagues will be sharing their expertise in the plenary sessions and workshops. In what is sure to be one of the most anticipated sessions of the two days and of great interest to many of the clubs in attendance, Steve Grainger, RFU Director of Rugby Development will kick start the grass roots focused day by presenting his vision for the development of the grass roots game in England. The presentation, will be for many, the first chance to hear firsthand the plans that will have a direct impact on all the grass roots rugby union clubs in England between now and 2015. On confirming his contribution to day two Steve Grainger, Rugby Development Director for the RFU said, Rugby Expo provides an excellent platform to meet many rugby clubs from across the country, to promote the collaboration with Premiership Rugby and to share how we are working together to develop the grass roots of the sport. The session will then be followed by a panel discussion designed to widen the debate of the RFUs future plans. Confirmed contributors for the panel session include both the Scottish Rugby Union and Rugby Football League who have been asked to support the session to get alternative views on the RFUs plans and to share their own experiences of developing their sports. Panellists for the development debate that will join Steve Grainger are confirmed as: – Mark McCafferty, CEO, Premiership Rugby Limited– Colin Thomson, Head of Community Rugby, Scottish Rugby Union– Keith Butten, Chairman, Luton RFC– David Gent, Director of Participation and Strategic Partnerships, Rugby Football LeagueMark McCafferty, CEO of Premiership Rugby Limited said: As a sport, we have a unique opportunity leading up to Rugby World Cup 2015 and beyond to realise a major step change in the appeal of the game in England.
