Confederations Cup Sells 588,000 Tickets

FIFA has recently announced a surge in ticket sales for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, due to be held in Brazil between 15 and 30 June, writes MEI’s Ricardo Demarchi and Lucas Lacombe. The organisation has revealed that over 588,000 tickets have already been purchased for the 16 matches to be held in six stadiums across the country.

71.2% of the total stock of 826,628 tickets has been sold so far and the goal is to overtake sales for the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup in Germany. That year, the event’s stadia had an average occupancy of 83%.

There are still approximately 238,000 tickets available for this year's tournament and stakeholders have a few days left to buy them on the official FIFA website: www.fifa.com/ticketing. Depending on the availability of tickets, there will be a final sales period from 1 June onwards.

Local companies are offering support and liaising services for foreign visitors in the event’s host cities. Transport, travel assistance, interpretation, touristic tours and tailor-made programmes are being offered to ease spectators’ stays in Brazil and help them enjoy the game.
