LONDON, October 29 2012 – There are huge opportunities for Scottish companies interested in working at the FIFA World Cup 2014 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games according to Dennis Mills, founder of leading global business specialists Major Events International (MEI).

The MEI seminar, which will take place in Glasgow this Thursday (November 1), will be run by MEI and Deloitte in collaboration with the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Selex SI. It will highlight the opportunities for Scottish companies, regardless of sector or size. The seminar will also discuss how to address some of the opportunities and inevitable challenges that come with working in Brazil.

Speaking ahead of the event, which will be held at The Radisson Blu Hotel on Argyll Street in Glasgow, Dennis Mills said: “Few people understand the opportunities and challenges that will face Scottish companies in Brazil in the next few years but there are so many procurement opportunities underway now.

“Scottish companies have some tremendous skills and attributes and can undoubtedly thrive in the international events market – but going into Brazil without the experience or support from partners who understand the landscape can be fatal. We’ve seen it so many times before.”

The MEI seminar and post-event one-to-one meetings with the speakers will provide an overview about supplying into Brazil, the opportunities and how to overcome some of the challenges.

Speakers will include Dr. Sandro Carnicelli from the University of West of Scotland who will give an overview of Brazil and some of the cultural issues from his perspective as a Brazilian; Roger Horwood, a senior partner at Deloitte, and Vitoria Nabas, Senior Partner, Nabas Legal will focus on the Brazilian economic climate and overcoming some of the challenges; Dennis Mills, CEO Major Events International will cover opportunities and some practical advice about how best to enter the market; Sir Brian Burridge at Selex SI will conclude on his perspective on why major events present such excellent opportunities for his company and those working within its supply chain.

Timings: Registration starts at 7.30am and presentations begin at 8am. The briefing will conclude by 10.30am and will be followed by one-to-one sessions with the speakers until 1pm.

This briefing includes a light breakfast at 7.30am to 8.00am and is free for Members of MEI’s membership network and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Members and £30 plus VAT for non-members.

This is a limited attendance event so please RSVP before Friday October 26 to register your interest:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or call: +44 20 7934 9005. ENDS
