The MEI team is now back in the UK after a hugely successful trip to Brazil during the last two weeks of November 2012.

The company was involved in extensive meetings across the country, managing the business activities of numerous companies, exhibiting stands at two major international sporting conferences and participating in a number of prestigious workshops alongside the likes of England football manager Roy Hodgson and Brazilian football legend Zico.

These recent activities have underlined MEI’s reputation as a source of expertise and knowledge for companies seeking to do business in the Brazilian major events marketplace. As a result, MEI’s representatives in Brazil are now busy managing the business activities of numerous global companies from our offices in Rio, Sao Paulo and Recife.

Sao Paulo & Expo Estadio (21-23 November)

We began our trip in Sao Paulo at Expo Estadio (, the world’s only exhibition that is entirely focused on sports infrastructure and equipment for stadiums and venues. During the exhibition, the MEI stand was frequently visited by companies seeking advice on how to capitalise on the upcoming commercial opportunities in Brazil as the country invests vast sums in the construction, technology and equipment for sports facilities in preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympics.

Rio de Janeiro & Soccerex (24-30 November)

MEI arrived in Rio de Janeiro in time for the biggest exhibition in the world of football – the Soccerex Global Convention ( This event sees 4,500 of football’s most senior decision makers from clubs, leagues and federations come together under one roof for five days of networking, learning and business. As official partners of Soccerex, MEI was given one of the larger stands at the exhibition. This allowed us to implement our ‘Shared Stand’ concept which sees us accompanied by international companies that we are helping to establish themselves in the Brazilian major events marketplace. This year, MEI was joined by SOS Global ( and Sword Security ( We organised detailed itineraries with numerous key meetings for both of them. MEI’s local staff (fluent in at least four languages) were also constantly present on the stand and thus able to represent both companies to potential clients. MEI is pleased to announce that we will be returning to Rio for Soccerex 2013 and that next year we will be hosting an even bigger stand with opportunities available for four companies to accompany us. If you are interested in attending Soccerex next year with MEI, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Dennis Mills, CEO of MEI, was also asked to host a number of high profile workshops during the Soccerex conference. These prestigious workshops were attended by hundreds of people and included speakers such as Roy Hodgson, former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein and former Netherlands and Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der SarSaar. The fact that Dennis was chosen to host two of these workshops demonstrates MEI’s reputation as the leading source of commercial understanding and expertise in the international major events marketplace.
