Rugby Expo 2013 scores record-breaking attendance figures

Rugby Expo cemented its position as the essential business event for one of the world’s fastest growing sports as the 2013 edition attracted a record number of delegates to Twickenham stadium for two days of presentations, panel discussions and master class summits, focusing on the major issues facing the game at professional and grass roots levels.

In a partnership with Rugby Expo, official media partner MEI provided support promoting the two day event to its members; MEI also exhibited alongside member Horizon Communications.

With over 800 pre-event delegate registrations and 400 from grass roots and community clubs, Rugby Expo 2013 deliberated subjects and issues affecting the game and with conference sessions set against the backdrop of a vibrant, sold out exhibition floor, the event delivered on its promise to create the ultimate meeting place for the key decision makers for the sport at all levels.

Not only hosting over 100 representatives from the RFU, Premiership Rugby, England Rugby 2015, RaboDirect Pro12 and WRU, Rugby Expo welcomed staff from both commercial and community departments at every Aviva Premiership club for the first time.

Commenting on the event and the partnership with MEI, Jonathan Wilson, event director, said: “Rugby Expo 2013 not only hosted a record number of delegates and exhibitors, the quality of our speakers and the honesty of which they discussed some of the sport’s hottest topics is proof of the importance placed upon the event within the industry.

“Through our partnership with MEI, we were able to not only reach out to a wider audience pre-event but also provide our delegates with the platform to discuss commercial opportunities available through large-scale events, where MEI’s extensive experience lies.”
