Along with exhibiting for the first time, Major Events International (MEI), working in collaboration with the London based Counter Terror Expo ran a Major Events Security and Resilience seminar for the 3rd successive year. Designed to be a small, informal but detailed dialogue between expert suppliers in the major events market and key customer stakeholders, once again it proved to be an outstanding success.

With 20 attendees, the focus centred on the somewhat unique circumstances of events which have a very high global TV audience but are not typically deemed as high security risks. With the Rugby World Cup 2015 taking place in UK, we were particularly fortunate to be joined by those responsible for security from the Organising Committee as well as representatives from UK government organisations for a lively debate. The interaction raised a number of questions including the challenges of having a low risk base but having to plan for a rapid change in situation.

Simon Ancliffe, the Managing Director for Movement Strategies, who have extensive experience of major event provision commented, “this seminar brought together a wide range of senior people with many insightful perspectives, and we made some valuable new contacts…just what we wanted”.
