Event Preview: Rugby Expo 2014

Rugby Expo will be returning to Twickenham Stadium on Wednesday 22 – Thursday 23 October 2014 for the event’s fourth consecutive edition at the home of English rugby.

Run in partnership and supported by Premiership Rugby, RFU, SRU, WRU, Pro12 and Championship, Rugby Expo is now regarded as the meeting place for the key decision makers of the sport.

Building on the success of previous years, Rugby Expo 2014 will host more than 50 leading speakers from across the sports industry, 40 rugby focused exhibitors and more than 800 attendees including over 400 grass roots clubs.

The two day event will open its doors with just 11 months to go until the sport’s most prestigious tournament kicks off in England on 18 September 2015 and Rugby Expo’s conference programme will seek to address many of the topical issues and opportunities that are presented to the host nation, its clubs and industry suppliers.

Major Events International will again be involved with Rugby Expo for the third year running, with presence on the exhibition floor as well as providing support pre-event as an official media partner. MEI’s extensive experience in providing market penetration and bid consultancy services to companies operating in the global major events marketplace sees them well-placed as a partner of Rugby Expo 2014.

As with previous years, day one of Rugby Expo will focus on the professional game before switching its focus to grass roots and community rugby on day two.

The conference programme will be made up of keynote speeches, main stage panel discussions and smaller, more focused workshops; the event has a history of A-list speakers taking to the stage, with leading figures from rugby and the wider sports industry sharing their views, advice and experiences on the most topical issues effecting the professional and grass roots game. In 2013, these included:

-          Peter Baumgartner – CCO, Etihad Airways

-          Bill Beaumont CBE – Chairman, RFU

-          Nick Brown – General manager, public affairs – New Zealand Rugby

-          Andrew Cosslett – Chairman, England Rugby 2015

-          Tomos Grace – Strategic partner manager, YouTube

-          Simon Green – Head of BT Sport, BT

-          Debbie Jevans CBE – CEO, England Rugby 2015

-          Steve Martin – CEO, M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment

-          Mark McCafferty – CEO, Premiership Rugby

-          Greg Peters – CEO, SANZAR

-          Quentin Smith – Chairman, Premiership Rugby

The focus in content ensures a clearer delegate profile on each day, supports networking and contact making, allows delegates to share experiences, helps exhibitors in their positioning of products and services and makes sure the content more accurately fits the needs of the delegate.

The Rugby Expo Dinner & Awards will again be returning for 2014 on the evening of day one, with over 250 representatives from the sport and industry gathered together in celebration of individual, club and sponsor achievements.

New for 2014, delegates have two packages available to maximise attendance at the event – both options provide full access to the event including the exhibition and conference programme and are priced from just £145.
