Rugby Expo signs long term partnership deal with Wasps Rugby and Ricoh Arena to host event from 2016 – 2018

The two day event will take place on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th November 2016

RX-Logo-CMYKRugby Ventures Ltd., the management team behind Rugby Expo, has agreed a new partnership with Wasps Rugby which will see the two day event move to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry from 2016.

Building on five successful years at Twickenham Stadium during which time Rugby Expo experienced year-on-year growth, the move to the Ricoh Arena will not only facilitate a greater number of exhibitors and partners thanks to an increased capacity and new-look exhibition hall, but it will create a truly national event; with 75% of the country within a two hour drive, the Ricoh Arena will welcome more union and league clubs from both the professional and community game, as a venue that is fast becoming the nation’s second home for the sport.

Run in partnership with Premiership Rugby, RFU, PRO12, RFL, the Association of Rugby Agents, the Rugby Players Association, WRU and Scottish Rugby, Rugby Expo continues to be regarded as the meeting place for the key decision makers in the sport.

The event will host more than 40 rugby-focused exhibitors, an extensive list of industry-wide hard-hitting speakers and a targeted 800 attendees comprising representatives from professional and grass roots clubs, unions, federations, leagues, rights holders, brands, suppliers, service providers, media, marketing and sponsorship agents and many more.

The two day event has a history of A-list speakers taking to the stage, with experts from rugby and the wider sports industry sharing their views, advice and experiences on the most topical issues effecting the professional game.

Day one of Rugby Expo will continue to focus on the professional game, with last year’s event debating key topics such as the future of professional club rugby, ticketing best practice, potential learnings from the growth of MLS in America and digital business. For day two the attention will shift to grass roots rugby, as the event continues to support the community game with free tickets offered to all grass roots clubs nationwide.

Commenting on the new agreement with the Ricoh Arena, Jonathan Wilson, Event Director for Rugby Expo said, “We are really excited by the opportunity presented to us by Wasps when we first initiated conversations to move the event to the Ricoh Arena. We want to create a truly national event and welcome more clubs from both the professional game and community game, grow the number of exhibitors and partners and moving to the Ricoh Arena helps facilitates this growth.”

Wasps Group CEO, David Armstrong, said: “We are delighted that the Ricoh Arena has been chosen to host Rugby Expo for the foreseeable future. The Ricoh Arena is the perfect environment in which to bring together sport and business and we look forward to welcoming a range of rugby businesses and supporters, from both the elite and community based game.”
