President of Pan American Games Briefed on Securing Crowded Places

On June 29, Major Events International and techUK were delighted to hosted a delegation from the Pan American Games 2019 Organising Committee for a thought leadership presentation on considerations for safe and secure crowded places.

 

IMG 7575 smallKicking off the security briefing for the Pan American Games 2019 delegation, which included President Luis Salazar, was Scott Wiener of Atkins. He pinpointed risks and vulnerabilities that come with organizing massive events. Scott let shared his knowledge of the multi-threat environment that exist in crowded places and major events and gave his recommendations on how to overcome these threats.

 

Next was Panayotis Andriopoulos of Design Security Ltd. His presentation consisted of the process by which security operations come into effect by elaborate planning and management in the context of major events, stressing that security must be considered at the beginning of planning in order for it to be effective and to reduce cost.

 

Third to the stand was Eileen Williams of Blue Integrity. With an emphasis on staff training, Eileen covered the importance of having volunteers and recruits who are well prepared and knowledgeable about their responsibilities.

Similar to that of Eileen Williams, the speaker explained how vital the workforce is to a secure event. Eoghan Gill of Sword Security highlighted the significance of an accreditation process to ensure quality service and safety of fans.
