Two of Brazil's premier metal bands, Sepultura and Angra, have been confirmed for the 2011 edition of the famous 'Rock In Rio' festival.

The event is one of the biggest music festivals in the world and will take place at the end of September–beginning of October 2011 in The City Of Rock in the Olympic Park, in Barra da Tijuca/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Around R40m will be invested in this territory of 150 thousand square meters by the prefecture of the city, as part of plans linked to the 2016 Olympic Games. Three incarnations of the festival have previously been held in Rio de Janeiro – in 1985, 1991 and 2001. Four have been held in Lisbon, in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010, and two in Madrid in 2008 and 2010. The shows are organised by Brazilian entrepreneur Roberto Medina. Rock in Rio attracted 1. 5m people to the first edition, 700, 000 to the second, about 1. 2m to the third, and around 350, 000 people to each of the three Lisbon editions.
