Iberian bid gets Latin Am support

The joint Spain–Portugal bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup can bank on all three CONMEBOL ExCom member votes, a leading federation official has said.

"The 10 [CONMEBOL] countries are agreed to give the vote to Spain, " the South American federation general secretary Eduardo Deluca told media after a meeting in Paraguay, reports news channel CNN. The CONMEBOL members are federation president Nicolas Leoz from Paraguay) Argentina's Julio Grondona and Ricardo Terra Teixeira of Brazil. Separately, Mohamed Bin Hammam, head of the Asian Football Confederation, has said he would be supporting Spain–Portugal. FIFA will vote on the 2018 and 2022 contenders in Zurich on 2 December 2010.
