SportsMark opens Brazil office

SportsMark has opened a Sáo Paulo, Brazil office. A division of Omnicom, SportsMark will offer sports and event marketing consulting and activation services for both international and Brazilian corporate clients for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as well as sponsorship marketing and hospitality management services for a range of Brazilian clients and sports entities.

SportsMark also announced the addition of Kevin Smith as business director in its Sáo Paulo office. Smith will be instrumental in helping SportsMark establish its presence in Brazil, in advance of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Smith brings a strong international resume to SportsMark. He began his sports career with StarSports in Hong Kong, creating sponsorship packages for the FIVB, ATP and FIFA. Smith joined ESPN International in New York in 2001, where he helped launch the inaugural 2002 X–Games in Brazil. From ESPNs offices in Sáo Paulo, he went on to sell, organize, and market the successful 2003– 2005 X–Games Brazil in Rio de Janeiro. He also worked to develop ESPN Brazils first mobile content platform for the Brazilian market. Following the annoucment of the new office, SportsMark was unveiled as the exclusive US agent for the sale of Official Hospitality Programmes for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. MATCH Hospitality AG, the exclusive rights holder for FIFA Hospitality Programs, announced the appointment, marking the first such arrangement for MATCH for the 2014 tournament. Jaime Byrom, the executive chairman of MATCH Hospitality, pointed out that SportsMark's expertise and networks within the American market represents the best option for MATCH Hospitality.
