The alumni association of FIFA's top sports management postgraduate programme, the FIFA Master, has partnered with Brazil's leading think–tank and business school Fundaáºáo Getá║lio Vargas (FGV) in order to host a major sports seminar in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 16 March 2012.

The FGV | FIFA Master Alumni Seminar marks the launch of a new online extension course offered by FGV in partnership with FIFA and the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES), based in Switzerland. The seminar will bring together prominent guest speakers such as honorary president of FIFA, Joao Havelange, legendary Brazil manager Carlos Alberto Parreira and Ricardo Trade, chief operating officer of the organising committee for World Cup 2014. The programme features presentations from FIFA Master alumni currently working in high positions within the Brazilian sports market covering the fields of sports marketing, management and sports law and it aims to enlighten professionals that seek to improve their qualification in the sports business area. During the seminar, FGV will also introduce its new course Management, Marketing and Law in Sports, offered by FGV Online in partnership with FIFA and CIES. Brazil is the 14th country to join the FIFA/CIES International University Network. The intention of the seminar is two–fold, said the alumni association Vice–president Joao Frigerio. One is to offer valuable information and new trends – in Brazil and internationally – of how sport may be run in a more efficient manner. The other one is to present the audience with an interesting alternative for those that wish to improve their knowledge and skills, with a view to entering the sports industry at such an exciting time for Brazilian sports. FGV Academic Coordinator, Pedro Trengrouse, commented: " This initiative is a watershed for the Brazilian Sport industry, whose human capital can leverage on the fact of Brazil hosting the World Cup and the Olympic Games to improve its managerial standards and seek better qualifications. The FGV | FIFA Master Alumni Seminar will take place at Academia Brasileira de Letras, in Rio de Janeiro, on 16 March 2012.
