Rio+20 facilitates media

Sport Business News

In order to facilitate the arrival of press personnel that will be covering the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development Rio+20 (20–22 June), designated immigration areas have been set up specifically for the official delegations and accredited media at the international airports of Rio de Janeiro and Sáo Paulo.

Support services will be offered to media professionals in order to assist with border procedures. Attendants will be on hand to assist these professionals in the event of any difficulties with Brazilian immigration and customs agencies. Two email addresses have been made available to provide and receive information about the arrival of foreign press:rio20. press@itamaraty. gov. br –– Members of the press can inform the Brazilian authorities through this email address their flight arrival data and advance their customs declaration to the Federal Revenue, as this is required for customs clearance of their equipment. Any questions regarding procedures for entering the country will be answered via this email address. rio20. imprensa@itamaraty. gov. br –– This email address should be used for general press enquiries. The new regulation adopted on 16 May 2012 sets favourable conditions for the admission of professional equipment for members of the press, as long as they are not resident in Brazil and have been previously accredited to cover the UN Conference. The equipment will be released on a temporary basis by completing a specific statement, to be made in duplicate, in which the goods must be described with their respective brands and models. A model Statement (Form A) can be found at the following link: www. rio20. gov. br/informacoes_uteis/credenciamento
