Brazil joins up with Qatar

Sport Business News

In a development with potential repercussions for countries planning to increase engagement with Brazil's major events industry over the coming years, president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has pledged Brazil's support for Qatar's 2022 FIFA World Cup bid as part of a number of new bilateral agreements finalised with the nation's Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al–Thani.

Prime minister and foreign minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al–Thani previously underlined that the Qatari–Brazilian relations have gone beyond the limits of bilateral partnership towards an initiative aimed to revitalise relations and to build a partnership between the Arab world and Latin America through the hosting of two summit meetings between the two sides; one in Brazil and the second in Doha.
