Seacliff wins C$90m contracts

In less than a week, a Vancouver–based construction company has been awarded two major contracts worth a combined total of about C$90m.

Seacliff Construction announced that its Dominion Construction contracting division has been awarded a C$40m construction management contract for the replacement of the roofing system at the Talisman Centre in Calgary, Alberta. The centre is the second busiest multi–sport facility in North America and has a cable–supported white fabric roof. "With nearly a century of construction experience, Dominion has the logistics expertise to ensure there will be no interruption of service, " said Bill Crarer, Seacliff CEO. "We also view this new contract win as additional evidence that activity within Western Canada's institutional construction sector remains strong, despite the recent volatility in global financial markets. " The current roof is still structurally sound, but an engineering team recommended a roofing replacement no later than 2010 to avoid expensive, unplanned shutdowns. Construction of the new roof is scheduled to begin in late 2009 and be completed by 31 December, 2010. This was the second major institutional infrastructure contract Seacliff announced in less than a week. The company also announced that Dominion Construction won a C$50m construction management contract for the building of a new engineering and management building at University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) in Kelowna.
