Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are among the five best cities to do business in Latin America, according to a survey published by AmÉrica Economía magazine at the end of May 2010.

According to the AmÉricaEconomía Ranking 2010, the 10 most attractive cities to do business are Miami (US) in first position, Santiago de Chile in second, Sao Paulo (Brazil) in third, MÉxico City in fourth position and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in fifth. In sixth position comes Buenos Aires (Argentina), followed by Panama City in seventh spot, Bogota (Colombia) in eighth, San Jose (Costa Rica) in ninth and Lima in 10th position. The nomination of Rio as the 2016 Olympic Games host city was put forward as one of the main factors for Rio moving up seven positions in relation to the 2009 ranking, in which it finished 12th. The city's infrastructure works and the development of professionals for the Rio 2016 Games are huge pluses and, according to the survey, attract companies in search of good investment projects. Founded in 1986, AmÉrica Economía magazine analyses Latin America finances and business, and prepares a ranking on the main issues of interest to business people in the region.
